Oh yea - I forgot to mention that I've been asked to sit on the Budget and Finance Committee for the town of Skowhegan. Should be an interesting experience!

Spring?
It is possible that signs of Spring are starting to present itself in Maine. It has been over 40 degrees for the last few days in a row now. The sap is running and soon there will be fresh Maple Syrup!
School is running smoothly now. Almost all the way caught up in all my classes from being sick at the very beginning of the semester (not something I would recommend by they way). I really like my SQL and American Music classes. The other 2 I'm taking are pretty lame, but could be better with different instructors. The Multi-Media Development course which is a Computer Science elective has turned into a Windows Movie Maker course, not exactly what most of my fellow computer science classmates are very pleased with. Windows Movie Maker is such a basic software program that it could be taught in grade school. The web design course is my own fault, however, there were not other Computer Science electives to take, so I'm stuck with it for the semester. Maybe after I get my degree, I can come back and teach this course!

133rd Engineering Battalion
The 133rd has returned home to Maine. Unfortunately, they didn't return with everyone they deployed with, but such is the story of war. I saw a classmate, Sean, at school on Monday. It was really great to see him back and smiling.
I hope these soldiers receive all the medical and counseling attention I think they will need. They have been in the most stressfull situation we could only imagine for a year now, and that has to do something to their well-being. I pray that they all have a very successful transistion back to life back in Maine. Give a soldier a big "Thank You" if you see them around your town.

Dan Rather
As much as Dan Rather has ticked me off in the past, I still have to say that I have great respect for how he has remained consistant over the course of his career at CBS. Watching some of the before unseen footage from his career made me change my mind a little bit in his favor. I still believe he let his bias slip into his reporting at times.
I can remember watching as a 12-year-old in March 1981 when he took over from Walter Kronkite and knowing it was a big deal. Little did I know that his reign would last for 24 years. Now, I wonder who CBS will find as a permanent replacement to take the anchor chair. Time will tell.

Friday Night Lights
Finally was able to rent and watch Friday Night Lights. I thought it was an excellent and very realistic movie. However, I think people who didn't participate in high school football might not appreciate the movie. Also watched The Terminal with Tom Hanks. It is a very good movie and interesting story. I'd recommend it to anyone.
