Uh, What?

I just read this article on CNNSI.  Since when did officials become this powerful in the NFL that they can't even be criticized?  Unbelievably absurd!
Shanahan fined $20K
'Horrible call' comment costs the Broncos' coach

DENVER (AP) -- The NFL fined Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan $20,000 on Friday for his criticism of the call that reversed Darrent Williams' punt return for a touchdown last week against San Diego.

Officials called Denver for too many men on the field toward the end of Williams' 61-yard punt return last Sunday after a few Broncos ran off the sideline to prepare for the extra point. None of the Broncos who ran onto the field were within 15 yards of the play.

"It was a horrible call. Horrible call," Shanahan said Monday. "You wouldn't see a lot of calls like that in high school."

On Friday, Shanahan acknowledged he had been fined.

"It's the first time I've ever been fined," Shanahan said jokingly. "That is pretty impressive."

Williams said he had no response to his coach's penalty.

"I won't be helping Mike pay the fine," he said.

September 10, 2001

Four years ago today, the United States was still asleep and believing it was safe and secure from all the insanity in the world. It is unreal to me that it has already been four years since our country came under attack and changed ALL of our lives forever.

I've been watching "specials" all week about 9/11 and it still hurts me to the core. The many survival stories, and especially the stories or heroism by civilians and emergeny responders helps to give me hope. I've read many of the transcripts that have been released in the last couple of months and they give me an even more understanding of how brave and selfless the fire and police men and women truly were. They tried until their very last breath to save as many people as they could - even after it was apparent that the building was going to crumble down around them.

Loggers

Is there a law written on the Maine books that I don't know about that allows the logging trucks to blow through stop lights and stop signs making me have to slam on my brakes? Just curious?!

A Sad, Sad Story of Humanity

It is unbelievably sad to see the worst of humans taking advantage of the evacuation of New Orleans. I'm all for people having to take drastic measures to break into a grocery store, but the looting that is going on above and beyond that is disgusting to watch. It just hurts to witness this decay of humanity.
